Course descriptions

Beethoven Babies: As the first level of our Music Sprouts curriculum, this class for ages 0–2 fosters an emotional and physical connection to music through immersive, age-appropriate experiences, with caregivers joining in the joy.

Infants and toddlers will develop familiarity with beautifully sung songs, from soothing lullabies to playful folk tunes, performed with artistry to captivate young ears. Through immersion in high-level music making, babies engage with basic rhythm using gentle hand claps and shakers. Babies explore pitch through vocal play and basic call-and-response, nurturing early auditory sensitivity. Very basic instruments introduce hands-on discovery, deepening their connection to musical sounds. This warm, supportive environment lays a foundation for lifelong musical appreciation.

Mozart Munchkins: As the second level of our Music Sprouts curriculum, this class for 3–5-year-olds focuses on structured skill-building, moving beyond the introductory singing and basic percussion of our beginner level to foster technical and expressive growth.

Using Orff Schulwerk methods, children will refine their ability to discern and reproduce pitch intervals through targeted exercises on xylophones and other tuned instruments, developing a precise ear for pitch. The curriculum emphasizes rhythmic accuracy, teaching consistent tempo and meter recognition through layered patterns and ensemble activities. Students will also cultivate an emotional connection to music, exploring dynamics and expression through guided improvisation and group performance. These skills build a robust foundation for instrumental training.
